Connection Issues

Solutions for offline mode problems, data loading issues, and connection troubleshooting.

How Data Loading Works

TeeckIn caches your data locally for fast loading and offline viewing. When you're online, data is fetched from the server and cached. When offline, you can view cached data but cannot make changes.

Connection Status

Online — Connected, all features available

Offline — Viewing cached data, changes unavailable

Data Loading Issues

Problem: Data not appearing or outdated

You're online but data isn't loading, or you're seeing stale information.

Possible causes:

  • Network connection is unstable
  • Browser cache is serving old data
  • Server is temporarily unavailable

Solutions:

  1. 1
    Check your internet connection
  2. 2
Refresh the page to fetch fresh data
  3. 3
    Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
  4. 4
If issues persist, try logging out and back in

Problem: Real-time updates not appearing

Team members' changes aren't appearing in your view, or you need to refresh to see updates.

Possible causes:

  • Real-time connection was interrupted
  • Firewall or network blocking WebSocket connections
  • Browser tab was suspended (background tabs may pause connections)

Solutions:

  1. 1
Refresh the page to re-establish the real-time connection
  2. 2
Check if your network allows WebSocket connections
  3. 3
Try disabling browser extensions that might block connections
  4. 4
If on a corporate network, check with IT about WebSocket policies

Note

Real-time updates are a convenience feature. You can always refresh the page to see the latest data.

Offline Mode Issues

Problem: Can't view anything while offline

When you lose internet connection, TeeckIn shows loading states or errors instead of cached data.

Possible causes:

  • You haven't loaded the app while online first
  • Browser storage is full or disabled
  • Private/incognito mode limits offline storage

Solutions:

  1. 1
Load TeeckIn at least once while online to cache the app
  2. 2
Check that your browser allows local storage for teeckin.com
  3. 3
Avoid using private/incognito mode if you need offline viewing
  4. 4
Check browser storage quota — you may need to free space

Problem: Data missing while offline

When offline, you can't see entries or topics that you know exist.

Possible causes:

  • That data wasn't loaded while you were online
  • Browser cache was cleared
  • Storage quota exceeded

Solutions:

  1. 1
While online, navigate to all pages you need access to offline
  2. 2
This ensures the data is cached locally
  3. 3
Recent data and frequently accessed pages are prioritized for caching

Tip

Before going offline intentionally (like a flight), navigate through your key pages to ensure the data is cached.

Problem: Can't make changes while offline

You're trying to start a timer, add an entry, or edit data while offline, but it's not working.

This is expected behavior:

TeeckIn requires an internet connection to make changes. While offline, you can view your cached data but cannot start timers, add entries, or make edits.

What to do:

  1. 1
Wait until you have internet access to make changes
  2. 2
Note down what you need to track (you can add it manually later)
  3. 3
Once online, use manual entry to log time retroactively

Browser Storage Issues

Problem: Storage quota exceeded error

You see an error about storage being full or quota exceeded.

Solutions:

  1. 1
Clear cached data for other websites you don't use
  2. 2
In browser settings, check storage used by teeckin.com
  3. 3
If storage is very large, contact support — there may be a data issue
  4. 4
Consider exporting old data and clearing history you no longer need

Still Having Issues?

Connection issues can be complex. If the above solutions don't help:

  1. 1
Note down what you were doing when the issue occurred
  2. 2
Check if the issue is reproducible
  3. 3
Export your data as a backup (Data Export in settings)
  4. 4
Contact support with details about the behavior
