Command Palette

Search and execute actions from anywhere in TeeckIn.

Overview

The command palette is a search-powered launcher that lets you access any feature in TeeckIn without navigating through menus. Open it, type what you want, and press Enter. It is the fastest way to start timers, navigate pages, and execute actions.

What You Can Do

The command palette searches across several categories:

Start Timers

Search for any topic by name and press Enter to start tracking immediately. Results show the topic name, category, and hourly rate.

Navigate Pages

Type a page name like "dashboard", "calendar", "billing", or "settings" to jump directly there.

Execute Actions

Search for actions like "new time entry", "create invoice", or "export report" to open the relevant dialog or start the action.

Access Help

Type "help", "docs", or "support" to access documentation and support options.

Using the Command Palette

  1. 1
Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) to open

Tip

Results are grouped by category (Actions, Navigation, Topics). The most relevant results appear first. You do not need to type the full name - partial matches work.

Search Tips

  • Partial matches - Type "cal" to find "Calendar", "time" to find "Timer"
  • Topic shortcuts - Type a few letters of any topic name to find it quickly
  • Action verbs - Try "new", "create", "export", "edit" to find related actions
  • Page names - Type "dash", "bill", "set" to navigate to Dashboard, Billing, Settings

Note

The command palette learns from your usage. Frequently selected items rank higher in future searches.

Common Workflows

Quick Timer Start

Cmd+K, type first few letters of topic, Enter. Timer starts in under 2 seconds.

Jump to Page

Cmd+K, type "dash" or "cal", Enter. Faster than clicking through navigation.

Add Manual Entry

Cmd+K, type "new entry" or "manual", Enter. Opens the new entry dialog immediately.

Edge Cases

No results found

If your search returns no results, try shorter or different keywords. The palette only searches within your current organization's data.

Too many results

Type more characters to narrow down results. The most relevant matches appear first, so you often do not need to scroll.

Command palette while timer running

Starting a new topic via the command palette automatically stops the current timer and saves the entry, just like clicking a topic would.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Command palette won't open

  • Ensure focus is not in a text input (click elsewhere first)
  • Try both Cmd+K and Ctrl+K
  • Check if a browser extension is capturing the shortcut
  • Refresh the page and try again

Problem: Topic not appearing in results

  • Verify you are in the correct organization
  • Check that the topic is not archived
  • Try searching with different keywords or fewer characters
  • Ensure the topic exists (check the Settings page)

Problem: Search results are slow

  • This can happen with very large topic lists
  • Try typing more specific search terms
  • Check your internet connection
  • Refresh the page to clear cached data
