Starting a Timer
Learn the different ways to start tracking time in TeeckIn.
Overview
TeeckIn offers three ways to start a timer: clicking a topic in Quick Start, using keyboard shortcuts, or searching with the command palette. Choose whichever method fits your workflow.
Method 1: Quick Start Panel
The fastest way for mouse users. The Quick Start panel shows your recent and pinned topics.
- 1Navigate to the Timer page
- 2Find your topic in the Quick Start panel on the left
- 3Click the topic to start tracking immediately
Tip
Method 2: Keyboard Shortcuts
For power users who prefer the keyboard. Each slot in Quick Start has a number shortcut.
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| Alt+1 | Start timer for topic in slot 1 |
| Alt+2...9 | Start timer for topics in slots 2-9 |
| Space | Toggle timer on/off (on Timer page) |
The Space shortcut works like a play/pause button — press once to start the most recent topic, press again to stop.
Tip
Method 3: Command Palette
Search for any topic from anywhere in the app. Great when you have many topics and don't want to scroll.
- 1Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux)
- 2Type the topic name — results filter as you type
- 3Press Enter to start the timer, or click the topic
Try searching for "timer" or "dashboard". Use arrow keys and Enter to navigate.
The command palette also shows recent entries and navigation options. You can search for pages, actions, and more.
What Happens Next
- The timer starts and appears in the header, visible on all pages
