Time GoalsPro

Set and track daily, weekly, and monthly time targets to stay productive.

Overview

Time goals help you track how much time you want to spend working each day, week, or month. They provide a clear target to aim for and help prevent both under-tracking (forgetting to log work) and over-tracking (working too much).

Goals appear as progress bars on the Timer page, giving you instant visibility into how close you are to your targets.

Pro Feature

Time goals require a Pro or Team subscription. You'll see a "Pro" badge on the Time Goals section if you're on the Free plan.

Goal Types

Daily Goal

Best for structured workdays. Set how many hours you want to track each day. Resets at midnight in your timezone. Common values: 6-8 hours for full-time, 3-4 hours for part-time or focused work.

Weekly Goal

Good for flexible schedules. Track your total hours across the week without daily pressure. Resets on Monday (configurable). Common values: 30-40 hours for full-time, 15-20 for part-time.

Monthly Goal

Ideal for project-based work or freelancers billing monthly. Track your total hours across the month. Resets on the 1st. Useful for meeting client retainer requirements.

Tip

You can set goals at multiple levels. For example, have a daily goal of 8 hours AND a weekly goal of 35 hours. This lets you have flexibility on individual days while maintaining weekly consistency.

Tracking Progress

Your goal progress is visible in several places:

  • Timer page - Main progress bars with percentage complete for each goal
  • Timer Settings → Goals - List of all goals with current progress

Note

Only billable time counts toward goals by default. You can change this in settings to include non-billable time if you want to track all work hours.

Adjusting Goals

Life changes, and so should your goals. Adjust them anytime without losing your historical data.

  1. 1
Go to Timer Settings → Goals
  2. 2
Click the edit button on the goal you want to change
  3. 3
    Update the target hours
  4. 4
    Click Save

The new goal applies immediately. Your progress percentage recalculates based on the new target. Past data is not affected.

Warning

Setting goals too high can be discouraging. Start with realistic targets based on your current tracking habits, then adjust upward as you build consistency.

Edge Cases

Time tracked before setting a goal

When you set a new goal, all time tracked in the current period (day/week/month) immediately counts toward it. If you tracked 3 hours today before setting an 8-hour daily goal, you start at 37.5% progress.

Exceeding your goal

You can continue tracking after hitting your goal. The progress bar shows over 100% and TeeckIn records the extra time normally. Some users set intentionally low goals to ensure they hit them, then track additional time without pressure.

Missing a goal

Nothing bad happens if you miss a goal. There are no penalties. The streak may break if you use daily streaks, but your account and data are unaffected.

Changing timezones

Daily goals reset at midnight in your account timezone. If you travel, update your timezone in Account Settings to ensure resets happen when you expect.

Troubleshooting

Problem: Progress bar not updating

  • Ensure the timer is running or entries are saved (not just started)
  • Check that entries are marked billable (if goal is billable-only)
  • Refresh the page to sync latest data
  • Verify the entry dates fall within the current goal period

Problem: Goal keeps resetting unexpectedly

  • Check your timezone setting in Account Settings
  • Daily goals reset at midnight in your timezone
  • Weekly goals reset on Monday by default (configurable)
  • Ensure your device clock is correct
